Tag, You're It...

Team 1 has arrived safely at RDU with looks on their faces that you would expect to have seen on Peter, John or any other disciple after witnessing the works of Jesus. It was pure joy, and for those of us from Team 2 that were there to meet them, it got us even more fired up to go, which we didn't think was possible. The amount of work Team 1 put into El Carrizo, physically and spiritually, was impressive.

Now, it's time for Team 2 to tag in. After 4 am wake up calls, which is absurd since we won't really sleep tonight anyway, we'll head to the airport for our 6 am flight. As Wiley noticed last year, the advantage of the early morning flight is the ability to see the sunrise from the clouds. Seeing God's work as we're heading to do God's work.

Our "theme" verse this year is Mark 12:30 -- "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Team 1 was able to carry that out, and now Jeremy, Oie, Chuck (carlitos), Ben, John, Jonathan, Chuck (Pepe), Greg, Ed, Jeremiah, Eddie, Wiley and "last-minute" Glenn are excited to get our turn.

To Dennis, Steve, Keith, Tom, John, Kristen, Mike, Joel and Bryan -- job well done good and faithful servants.

  1. Team Two departed this morning from RDU, with Jonathan coming from Charlotte and joining up with them in Miami. There was a little shifting between bags to stay below 50 lbs each. I think that had something to do with the dozen or so deflated soccer balls they are smuggling into Honduras. I didn't notice any mezcla trowels or saw blades.

Bob led a beautiful prayer to set them on their mission and I can verify that Glenn checked his bags and made his way through the security checkpoint towards a long anticipated return trip to Honduras.

Eddie and Greg, the newbies for this trip are in for a special experience, as are all of our hermanos en Christo.

  2. Thanks for listing everyone's names and saying a word about them. It helps to feel connected.
